About Dennis Kucinich

Congressman and world statesman Dennis Kucinich, (D-OH), Co-Chair of the House Aviation and Space Caucus and Chair of the Progressive Caucus, is calling on all world leaders to immediately sign and ratify the Space Preservation Treaty that is companion to his Space Preservation Act which he will re-introduce in the 108th U.S. Congress in the fall of 2003.

ICIS's educational vision of Peace in Space acknowledges the writings and inspiration of Dennis Kucinich, a special man who truly represents and leads the people in a unique way that recognizes who we are in these bodies, in these man-made and geographical boundaries on this planet, and in the universe(s)…as he moves with us and leads us out of the old and obsolete earthbound paradigm into the new and exciting space age paradigm. Dennis Kucinich knows how to present issues in a non-confrontational but powerful, non-partisan and sane heartfelt way that shows we can provide a win-win for everyone in an all inclusive manner, acknowledging we must come from a place of compassion with recognition that we are all on different places on the path, while respecting our diversity and unity.

Dennis KucinichDennis Kucinich was born on October 8, 1946, the eldest of seven children. His parents and siblings lived in about 21 places by the time he was 17, including a couple of cars. His dad was a truck driver for 35 years. He worked hard though school as a copy boy, an editor, and received a Masters Degree in Communication. In 1977, he was elected Mayor of Cleveland at 31, the youngest person ever to be elected to lead a major American city. He lost his re-election bid in 1979, but made his comeback almost 15 years later by winning the election to the Ohio Senate on the strength of the expansion of the city's light system which provided low-cost power to almost half of the residents of Cleveland. He was honored in '98 by the Cleveland City council for "having the courage and foresight to refuse to sell the city's municipal electric system."

He has been recognized by the Greater Cleveland AFL-CIO and is currently leading a civil crusade to save Cleveland's 90 year old steel industry and the thousands of jobs and retiree benefits it provides. With hospitals closing around the country, he has led a people's movement which re-opened two Cleveland neighborhood hospitals and diverted heavy train traffic away from heavily populated areas. He's been recognized by the National Association of Social Workers on behalf of the poor, and continues to be an advocate for the homeless.

In his “day job” as a U.S. Congressman, Dennis Kucinich is Chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (which is the largest caucus in the congress), and is champion of all the progressive issues. He is Co-Chair of the Baltic Caucus and on the Board of Directors of the Parliamentarians for Global Action. He is a true world citizen seeking human rights and a non-violent society that makes war obsolete. Congressman Kucinich has been honored by many organizations including Public Citizen, The Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth, and the League of Conservation Voters as he works to get us clean air, clean water, and an unspoiled earth.

He has introduced the bill for a Department of Peace, and is an advocate of eliminating nuclear weapons and other dangerous and polluting technologies with a deep spiritual awareness of our interconnectedness and interrelationship to each other and to our environment.

Congressman Kucinich's purpose is to stand for us, the people, for what we care about. As Co-Chair of the Aviation and Space Caucus, he works with full commitment to peace on earth and to preserve the space environment above all our heads as a space-based weapons-free zone that will provide great benefits to all humankind.

Congressman Kucinich has introduced the Space Preservation Act, companion to the world treaty, Space Preservation Treaty, that can and will ban all space-based weapons in 2003-5 and put a literal lid on the arms race once and for all time, and that will make it possible, finally, to verify arms agreements including the reduction and elimination of nuclear weapons and other dangerous and polluting technologies.

Few individuals have done more for people and animals and our environment than has Dennis Kucinich. There are far too many caucuses on which he serves and accomplishments he has acheived to mention here. He has moved into distinguished positions and is still on the move with us. He is a vegan vegetarian out of respect for all sacred life.

ICIS is a non-partisan, educational organiation. We do not advocate any political candidate.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich is the first candidate for President who has presented a vision and action plan that will ban all space-based weapons while allowing for the military industrial complex to proceed into space without space-based weapons. Therefore, he is the first Candidate for U.S. President in the 2004 election that ICIS educates about.
